Business Intelligence is the building block of the universally so present digitalization within companies, with which everyone can and should start immediately.

Digital literacy has become a hot potato in the last years. Given the fact that companies are increasingly asking about or even demanding digital skills. Even for seemingly non-digital professions. HR professionals consider data handling and processing to be a necessary key qualification for traditional industry executives.

Especially purchasers can benefit from digitization and the professional processing of data. Excel has become part of the standard repertoire of this profession, and about half of the purchasers already have an in-depth knowledge of Excel, including functions like the Solver, Scenarios, Power Pivot or Power Query. Nevertheless, at least in Austria, professional business intelligence, meaning a comfortable, beautifully visualized and fast access to the central data from ERP and other systems, is implemented in the fewest of companies.

Together with the Austrian Productivity and Efficiency Center (ÖPWZ) we are working on further expanding existing competences and communicating digital purchasing methods. It is important for us to not only capture the different work requirements and knowledge of our course participants, but also to incorporate them in order to achieve the best for all participants.

The 3-day workshop „Business Intelligence in procurement“ offers:

  • Understanding of the most important current buzzwords, competence in dealing with data
  • Features of the Power Pivot interface, formatting / manipulating data, simple DAX commands for calculating columns and measures
  • Simultaneous import of many similar files from a folder, automation of data processing tasks, simple purchasing dashboard with monthly update

This will create a breeding ground for business intelligence in the company, to use with the existing or free Microsoft office tools and to add value to the processes.

The first course took place from 9th to 11th September 2019 and was able to convince not only the ÖPWZ but also the participants:

From the 20th to the 22nd of April 2020, the ÖPWZ will open its doors for the next „Business Intelligence in procurement“ course (so sign up now to secure your place). Alternatively, we also offer the content as an in-house training for 3-10 employees.
